SEMI RIGID PVC COMPOUND

Semi rigid PVC compound helps us to produce these materials that require certain superior physical properties compared to what a flexible PVC offers, but granting a certain minimum flexibility that allows us to meet the objective of using the product to be manufactured. It is made up of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin plus other additives, among which the plasticizer stands out but in minimal quantities. In the case of semi rigid PVC compound, HDT or softening temperature, is higher than in flexible PVC but much lower than in rigid PVC, which explains its limited elasticity and certain resistance to the tension. This allows us to generate products that have a certain memory when they are crushed and return to their original state, but their use is not recommended at high temperatures, subject to prior validation, mainly in hot climates.
Semi rigid PVC compound has a hardness that is in the upper Shore A range and in the minimum of Shore D scale, which serves as a reference for quality control. In addition, it tends to represent greater complications than flexible PVC during its processing, since it requires greater mechanical effort to get proper fusion and thus a smooth surface finish.
