FLEXIBLE PVC COMPOUND

Flexible PVC compound is the composition of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin plus other additives, among which plasticizer plays a major role. When this additive is added, which in turn is responsible for solvating the plastic and providing elongation properties, it is possible to manufacture a wide variety of finished products that meet the needs of our customers.

It is important to know that while properties are gained by making PVC flexible, others also tend to be sacrificed, such as tensile strength or heat distortion temperature (HDT). It must be remembered that flexible PVC compound has a limited shape-memory and is far from that offered by rubber product. The greater the flexibility it is reduced the less likely to return to its original shape.

Flexible PVC compound can be formulated to achieve different hardness, which is controlled by the Shore A scale and which serves as reference for manufacturers in order to obtain a product that meets their requirements. In addition, this family of products is relatively easy to transform compared to harder grades, since it requires lower temperatures and fusion is easily achieved. But let's not forget that other additives and processing conditional can make the difference when it comes to fusion.
